[12:08] Breila Jenvieve: Yay Kitty!!
[12:08] Sheila Yoshikawa: this is the LM

The Fantastic Future of Health, SL20B

[12:09] Sheila Yoshikawa: SLB Fabulous (238,227,23)
http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SLB%20Fabulous/239/227/23
[12:09] Second Life: Teleport completed from Infolit iSchool (232,19,21)
You are now at The Fantastic Future of Health, SLB Fabulous (238, 227, 23)
[12:10] Valibrarian Gregg: I love the colored pathway!!
[12:11] Breila Jenvieve: Me too, so cute
[12:11] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): Thank you! I use it everywhere.
[12:11] Valibrarian Gregg: Great way to “guide” participants
[12:11] Ais Aeon: “With liberty and justice for all… who can afford them”. Sorry for my cynicism. I actually like the US a lot.
[12:11] Beth Ghostraven: Hi Marly!
[12:11] :: Beth Ghostraven, welcome to My Adventuredom’s hedge maze.
The maze is set up into three areas – the current US healthcare model – the future of healthcare and how we’ll be providing free care – and how My Adventuredom is structured to pay for that care. ::
[12:11] :: This area represents the current US healthcare model that focuses on sick people equaling profit.
The current model causes the sick to go without care and medicine unless they can afford it. ::
[12:11] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): This all represents the current state of healthcare – followed by the future of healthcare
[12:12] PI (pi.illios): This is so true
[12:12] PI (pi.illios): and cruel
[12:13] Sheila Yoshikawa: sorry, I crashed!
[12:13] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): Welcome back!
[12:14] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): This all represents first the current state of healthcare – followed by the changes we’re trying to make for an improved future of healthcare.

[12:14] Andrea whispers: Hi. My name is Andrea.
[12:14] Andrea whispers: I went to three different doctors with the same stomach pain that wouldn’t go away. The doctors just kept ignoring me and saying it was stress or anxiety.
[12:14] Andrea whispers: The pain got worse and I had to be rushed to the hospital. The ER staff immediately sent me for imaging and found the problem. Unfortunately, the problem had gone on for so long and had caused so much damage to my body that I needed surgery!
[12:14] Andrea whispers: If it had been caught earlier it was treatable with medication.
[12:14] Andrea whispers: I don’t know how I’m going to afford my hospital bill.

The Future of Health Care: Urgent Care

[12:14] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): Please followed the colored path. There are gifts upstairs in the treehouse.
[12:15] Sheila Yoshikawa: The UK’s National Health Service has a lot of problems at the moment, but I still am so glad it doesn’t use the North American model…..
[12:15] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): I have experience with both the US and Canadian healthcare system. I’m working on both at the moment, then we hope to expand further.
[12:18] PI (pi.illios): I like the way you present the reality of health care
[12:18] Marly (marly.milena): GOT STUCK in animal space. The only way I could get out was to fly!
[12:18] :: Welcome to the future of healthcare.
Wellness centers where vision, dental, dermatology, nutrition, and support are the norm.
Where it’s no longer a fight to receive a diagnosis, long-term care, and genetic counseling. ::
[12:19] :: We’re headed to the urgent care next.
The patient is triaged upon arrival so that they can receive any imaging, bloodwork, or urine tests that may be needed for the potential diagnosis.
After those tests come back, the patient receives their diagnosis and any treatment that is needed. ::
[12:20] :: In addition to our more traditional wellness opportunities, we’ll provide various forms of animal-assisted therapy to help with physical and psychological needs. ::
[12:21] :: You may be wondering how no-cost care is possible.
It’s all funded by our company’s businesses.
We’re just like any other business, except instead of paying shareholders, we’re choosing to use our money to open facilities that matter to us.
Because people are worth more than profits. ::
[12:21] :: Some of the physical businesses that we plan to open in the near future are on the left.
Online businesses are represented on the right.
Most of the online businesses are currently active. ::
[12:21] :: Thank you for exploring The Fantastic Future of Health!
Please take the elevator or TP just ahead in order to pick up your gifts from inside the treehouse. ::

Discussion Area at The Fantastic Future of Health, SL20B

[12:22] Ais Aeon: Unfortunately, medicine is a ripe field for “charity business”. We had some bad examples of that locally – people gathering huge amounts of money in charity for medical equipment, then ending up buying a lot of expensive stuff from specific companies. Equipment that often the hospitals didn’t really need that much.
[12:22] Sheila Yoshikawa: that it shouldn’t have to depend on volunteers and the private sector BUT unfortunately the state-funding model is under huge pressure
[12:22] Breila Jenvieve: The state does fund veteran care in the US and it’s a travesty. I think it’s good to look at other options.
[12:22] Clyte (zayde): oh yes Sheila me too
[12:23] dav2 (dav2d): using camming in on you rather than bumping into walls
[12:23] Sheila Yoshikawa: @Ais ouch. There are some scandals here about who got the government contracts for PPE during COVID
[12:23] Beth Ghostraven: good idea, dav
[12:23] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): As a family run LLC, it’s not set up as a public company. There isn’t any money that is paid to stockholders because there isn’t any stock.
[12:24] Clyte (zayde): oh yes, total travesty the PPE
[12:24] Clyte (zayde): so much has now been trashed!
[12:24] Sheila Yoshikawa: (but my husband would probably be dead without the NHS, he’s had a lot of care for heart and other problems and takes expensive drugs for free)
[12:25] Sheila Yoshikawa: @Serenity how long has the initiative been going?
[12:25] Clyte (zayde): the Government , not the healthcare services that is causing problems in UK
[12:25] Sheila Yoshikawa: also @Serenity how long roughly did it take to make the build
[12:26] Ais Aeon: Here public healthcare is funded by taxing the income of individuals on their salaries, as well as the companies who pay those salaries. So while it is public, it is not exactly free. And as a side effect, even the “company-side” of the expenses end up being paid by regular people as companies simply raise the prices of their products to make up for the “medical tax”.
[12:26] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): We started this in 2020.
[12:26] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): This build took me 3 days.
[12:26] Clyte (zayde): wo!
[12:26] Clyte (zayde) goes wide-eyed with admiration
[12:26] Ais Aeon: 3 days only? Respect!
[12:26] Beth Ghostraven: Serenity is that including the planning time?
[12:27] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): I had a mini-mockup of this at NPC, then a bigger version on my sim. I just filled in the box areas with the items.
[12:27] Sheila Yoshikawa: this is the same treehouse we have on Infolit iSchool, it’s venerable but I still love it
[12:27] Breila Jenvieve: I’m jealous. In three days I’d still be conceptualizing (i.e. staring at the wall)
[12:27] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): Yes. It thankfully came together quite nicely.
[12:27] Clyte (zayde) grins at Brella
[12:27] Sheila Yoshikawa: very nicely!
[12:27] Clyte (zayde): indeed, really nicely
[12:27] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): I had help. My son was with me. We figured out what we wanted to share and worked backwards.
[12:27] Clyte (zayde): brilliant
[12:27] Breila Jenvieve: That’s the way to do it, have a clear vision first.
[12:28] Sheila Yoshikawa: a success I would say
[12:28] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): Thank you very much!
[12:28] Sheila Yoshikawa: and it has a storyboard
[12:28] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): My website is not working well at the moment. I am waiting to hear back from my host. We’re experiencing 503 errors today.
[12:28] Sheila Yoshikawa: But I had better move us on now so we can see another couple of places (though I’ve got very comfy here!)
[12:29] PI (pi.illios): me too lol
[12:29] Breila Jenvieve: I know, nice and peaceful here.
[12:29] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): Thank you for coming!

[12:34] Sheila Yoshikawa: I thought this was a beautifully put together build
[12:34] Ais Aeon: Was the plant mean to you? πŸ˜‰
[12:34] Sheila Yoshikawa: but I wish you could interact a bit more
[12:34] Stranger Nightfire: it is a cool build
[12:34] Second Life: [LINKRAVE] Book :: The Future of Botanical Engineering owned by Alecio Mavendorf gave you ‘[LINKRAVE] Book page about Blue Kuunka – (AddMe)’ ( SLB Glamorous (60,105,28) ).
[12:34] Stranger Nightfire: goes nice with the event future theme
[12:34] Breila Jenvieve: Beautiful!
[12:34] Beth Ghostraven: yes
[12:34] Sheila Yoshikawa: I keep thinking that surely something will happen if I click the keyboard/panel things
[12:35] Clyte (zayde): It is superb, but be nice for screens to interact
[12:35] Clyte (zayde) laughs
[12:35] Beth Ghostraven: this could be so much more of a library, instead of just looking like one
[12:35] Clyte (zayde): exactly!
[12:35] Sheila Yoshikawa: I think this is also a friendly space
[12:35] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): I love this build!
[12:35] Stranger Nightfire: i always like libraries
[12:35] Sheila Yoshikawa: I’d be happy spending time in this library
[12:36] Beth Ghostraven: I think libraries tend to be friendly spaces
[12:36] Clyte (zayde): yes the glass roof makes it light and airy

Sleep Dome at AADORF Hydroponics Laboratory

[12:36] Sheila Yoshikawa: I thought we could teleport to the sleep dome and then go to the next exhibit
[12:36] Ais Aeon: I like the windlight settings chosen for it.
[12:36] Sheila Yoshikawa: teleporter is here
[12:36] Sheila Yoshikawa: @Clyte yes but the books make you feel safe, or me anyway
[12:37] Clyte (zayde): yes me too, cosy
[12:37] Breila Jenvieve: Me too, I’m all about the library
[12:37] Clyte (zayde): mind you, the beds here are comfy
[12:37] Sheila Yoshikawa: hmm this toilet is a bit public lol
[12:37] PI (pi.illios): lol
[12:37] Clyte (zayde) stifles a yawn
[12:38] Sheila Yoshikawa: I THINK this is a real company and in fact I would like it if there was more information about them
[12:38] Sheila Yoshikawa: the advertising is too subtle!
[12:38] Clyte (zayde): the nc with gift was ok
[12:38] Clyte (zayde): but expect more
[12:39] Sheila Yoshikawa: yes
[12:39] Breila Jenvieve scooches over
[12:39] Sheila Yoshikawa: lol
[12:40] Sheila Yoshikawa: Right, on to the next, which is a Bryn Oh art installation

[12:40] Second Life: Teleport completed from SLB Glamorous (60,110,35)
You are now at Bryn Oh – Piano Roll, SLB Fantasy (203, 98, 23)
http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SLB%20Fantasy/204/98/23
[12:41] Beth Ghostraven: wow, this is REALLY dark
[12:41] Ais Aeon: Wow this is dark
[12:41] PI (pi.illios): Photo Bomb
[12:41] PI (pi.illios): πŸ˜€
[12:41] Ais Aeon: is it supposed to be pitch black, or is it my settings?
[12:41] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): We’re in a black dome
[12:41] Sheila Yoshikawa shouts: There is a poem on the piano

[12:42] Ais Aeon: ok, had to turn some advanced lighting settings on to see the piano… or anything else. Not criticizing the exhibit, just saying in case anyone else has the same issue.
[12:42] Sheila Yoshikawa: it’s just this area, the installation
[12:42] PI (pi.illios): everyone in their phones
[12:42] Sheila Yoshikawa: with the audience looking at their phones
[12:43] Sheila Yoshikawa: yes I have “shared environment” on
[12:43] Sheila Yoshikawa: snap @Pi
[12:43] Ais Aeon: Was this poem written by Chat GPT? (sorry couldn’t help it)
[12:44] Sheila Yoshikawa: it is also like some conferences, as everyone is busy tweeting and blogging while the presenters present

[12:44] Stranger Nightfire: Bryn gets ;pretty dark in her story builds
[12:44] Sheila Yoshikawa: haha literally @Stranger
[12:45] Stranger Nightfire: remember on based upon the story of Issac, you eventually come across Abraham holding Issac on his lap with a gun to his head
[12:45] Clyte (zayde): Oh I am a big fan of Bryn OH
[12:45] Ais Aeon: The audience part is very… evocative. Well done Bryn.
[12:46] Sheila Yoshikawa: also, once you do get the light setting right, it is good at screening out all the other exhibits and being its own world
[12:46] Sheila Yoshikawa: Now for something different
[12:46] Sheila Yoshikawa: SLB Incredible (152,28,23)
http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SLB%20Incredible/152/28/23

[12:48] Sheila Yoshikawa: Does anyone know more than me about this university?
[12:49] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): I’ve never heard of this school before, unfortunately.
[12:49] PI (pi.illios): is it a role play?
[12:49] Ais Aeon: Not me unfortunately.
[12:49] Sheila Yoshikawa: I had the impression it was an actual university
[12:50] PI (pi.illios): Oh sorry
[12:51] Second Life: ST E INFO owned by Opie Kiko gave you ‘St Elizabeth Information’ ( SLB Incredible (149,33,22) ).
[12:51] Beth Ghostraven: The notecard begins with roleplay insstructions
[12:52] Clyte (zayde): which one Beth?
[12:52] Beth Ghostraven: over here
[12:52] Sheila Yoshikawa: Ah! thank you @Beth
[12:52] Sheila Yoshikawa: sorry I should have researched this more
[12:52] Beth Ghostraven: under the Dance Company sign
[12:52] Sheila Yoshikawa: but it is an exercise in inquiry learning
[12:52] Beth Ghostraven: that’s ok, Sheila, it’s interesting to explore it
[12:52] Ais Aeon: The logo kind of suggests it is a fictional place.
[12:52] Stranger Nightfire: they don’t seem to take part much in SL educational events
[12:52] Sheila Yoshikawa: ahem that we collectively discover which it is
[12:52] PI (pi.illios): all girls school?
[12:53] Clyte (zayde): not by the pictures
[12:53] Sheila Yoshikawa: hmm see what you mean about the logo, especially the whip
[12:53] Sheila Yoshikawa: or is it a Bishop’s crozier?
[12:54] Sheila Yoshikawa: Ok onward to the last official stop on the tour
[12:54] Clyte (zayde): interesting juxtaposition!
[12:54] Sheila Yoshikawa: Made by the excellent librarian Zoe Foodiboo, the next stop
[12:54] Sheila Yoshikawa: where we will finish
[12:55] Sheila Yoshikawa: SLB Marvelous (103,157,2)

You are now at Seogyeoshire, Jeogeot: A Welsh-Themed Mainland Community, SLB Marvelous (103, 157, 2)

[12:55] PI (pi.illios): Zoe’s community
[12:55] PI (pi.illios): She does a lot here
[12:55] Sheila Yoshikawa: There is a library here too!

[12:56] PI (pi.illios): She has a garden club
[12:56] Beth Ghostraven: does it say anywhere how to pronounce the name of it? My Welsh is pretty bad
[12:56] Clyte (zayde): ooh and a pub!
[12:56] Ais Aeon: Ok, this is kind of… creepy in a metatextual way I guess.
[12:56] Sheila Yoshikawa: why creepy?
[12:56] PI (pi.illios): why?
[12:56] PI (pi.illios): I like it
[12:57] Sheila Yoshikawa: I know places rather like this
[12:57] Clyte (zayde): yes so do I
[12:57] Ais Aeon: Creating virtual Welsh village… those of you who know Lovecraft’s dream cycle will know. There’s a character there that in the end creates a virtual Welsh village because he is so sick of being in the fantasy dreamlands and not in real Britain.
[12:57] Clyte (zayde): Bethesda in Snowdonia comes to mind
[12:57] Stranger Nightfire: this one does not seem very future oriented
[12:57] Sheila Yoshikawa: though there should be people selling tacky postcards and overpriced bad coffee
[12:58] Clyte (zayde) laughs
[12:58] Ais Aeon: Kind of a metaphor for… well, what happens if all your dreams come true and you gain all the power you ever wanted.
[12:58] Beth Ghostraven: The future of SL is not necessarily futuristic
[12:58] Sheila Yoshikawa: Zoe said “As society looks towards the future, some may imagine advanced technologies and digital utopias. In Seogyeoshire, we prefer to look to the past for our inspiration. In an increasingly fast-paced, connected world, our tight-knit community celebrates a slower, analog lifestyle where everyone feels welcome. Come by and say hello! “
[12:58] Clyte (zayde): oooh nice
[12:58] Beth Ghostraven: I’m tempted to pronounce it Soggyshire, but that can’t be right
[12:59] Sheila Yoshikawa: It is a thing, I think, people wanting to rewild places etc
[12:59] PI (pi.illios): We can ask Zoe
[12:59] Sheila Yoshikawa: lol Beth
[12:59] Beth Ghostraven: :o)

[12:59] ღ Serenity ღ (serenkitty): Now I’m hoping that it’s called Soggyshire
[12:59] Ais Aeon: “our tight-knit community celebrates a slower, analog lifestyle where everyone feels welcome.” …. that does sound very Tolkienesque and Lovecraftian as a moral virtue.
[12:59] Clyte (zayde): as the Welsh would say
[12:59] Sheila Yoshikawa: so things get soggy
[12:59] Stranger Nightfire: some weird sculpture on the next parcel over
[12:59] PI (pi.illios): Yes
[13:00] Sheila Yoshikawa: @Ais but it doesn’t have to be twee or creepy, surely?
[13:00] Old Rockers Cider Pump: Enjoy Your Drink Ais Aeon.
[13:00] Breila Jenvieve: Gotta go, take care everyone!
